Basic Line Drawing for Beginners, Different ways of using line- contour. cross contour, hatching, cross hatching, contour hatching.
This class is for beginners. Students will learn the pencil numbering system. Students will learn about different kinds of pencils- like HB, B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, and F. Students will test these pencils out. Students will also test out the black colored pencil and charcoal pencils. Students will learn the numbering system for charcoal pencils, which is the same as that for pencils. Students will create a contour drawing or outline of an object. Students will create a cross contour drawing of an object, using cross contour lines in 1 direction. These lines follow along the surface of the object. Students will use a variety of pencils for this drawing. Students will then do a cross contour drawing of an object, using cross contour lines in 2 directions using different kinds of pencils. Students will then learn how use line to create value and shading. Students will create a drawing using hatching, cross hatching, and contour hatching. Students will create a value scale using hatching. Students will draw an object using hatching, or lines in one direction to create areas of light and dark on the object, using different pencils. Students will create a value scale using cross hatching, or crossing lines in different directions to show value. Students will draw an object using cross hatching, or crossing lines, with different pencils to create areas of light and dark. Students will draw an object using contour hatching. Contour hatching is a combination of cross contour lines and hatching lines. Students will draw an object with contour hatching lines following the surface of the object. Students will create areas of light and shadow with contour hatching.
